The Word/Phrase:
Apostolic Mandate

CONTEXT USED IN:

We will often ask a student signing up for the apostolic course, “What is your mandate?” By asking this question we are hoping to find out what direction the Lord has given them and what direction they see themselves going in their apostolic calling.

EXCERPT:

BOOK:
The Way of the Apostle - Volume 1: The Apostolic Appointment

CHAPTER:
Signs of the Apostolic Calling

AUTHOR:
Les D. Crause

ApostolicAppt 2:12 - "He had a vision burning in him. He had something strong burning in him. He had a clear goal, a clear mandate. That mandate was given to him as he was struck to the ground, as the light shone around him and the Lord Jesus spoke to him and said, "Saul, Saul, why are you persecuting Me?" We will look more at that as we go on.

13 Paul had a unique passion burning in him. He was a spiritual entrepreneur. And every man that God is raising up today to take the title and the role and Office of Apostle is somebody that has a cause. He is somebody that has a cause burning in them and somebody that has a goal, a vision, a clear mandate from the Lord to go out and do what perhaps nobody else is doing. He is a spiritual entrepreneur."

The Word/Phrase:
Apostolic Ministry

CONTEXT USED IN:

When someone has received a call to the Apostolic, either from a prophetic word or direct revelation from the Lord, we would say that, “You have been called to the Apostolic Ministry” This means that they have been chosen to pass through the preparation and training required of one to stand in such an office, but this call does not place them in the actual office. (See also: Fivefold Ministry: Ministry and Office)

Apostolic Fatherhood

AUTHOR:
Les D. Crause

ApostolicOffice 4:34 - "Now I am not talking about a child in the natural here. I am talking about a spiritual child. I am talking about somebody who has not attained the spiritual maturity to stand on their own, and in the context of the apostolic I am referring to somebody who has not yet been placed in apostolic office. Until you are placed in apostolic office, as far as the apostolic ministry is concerned, you are still in apostolic childhood or adolescence. So I want you to think in that context as we look at this."

Anointed and Appointed

"Can you identify a time when the Lord anointed you for ministry? It could have been through a prophetic word, it could have been through a personal revelation directly from the Lord. Either way, you KNOW the Lord had called you. But what now? Does this now mean that you must begin functioning in the office the Lord has called you to? Not at all, what this means is that from this day, the anointing that was poured upon you, will now begin forming you into the image of Christ and will be preparing you to take the throne of office!"

The Word/Phrase:
Apostolic Office

CONTEXT USED IN:

When a person has passed through the preparation and training that the Lord leads the apostle through, they will then be released into the full function of their calling by a prophet or an apostle. When such a person is put in this position by the direction of the Holy Spirit, we would say that, “They stand in apostolic office.”

The Davidic King

AUTHOR:

DavidDynamic 23:4-7
"3 So all the elders of Israel came to the king at Hebron; and king David made a league with them in Hebron before the LORD [Yahweh]: and they anointed David king over Israel. (GMR)

As we have been making progress through the David Dynamic we were first introduced to a shepherd boy, and slowly we have seen a transformation take place in David's life from image to image, from insecurity to security, from need for acceptance to boldness and leadership. Now we are going to take a global look as the Lord has prepared you as a Davidic apostle, from one who just received the revelation of, "Hey, I'm called to be an apostle," and all that it was about, to coming to the place where you finally rise up and stand in the office of apostle.

{ Office the End Goal }

You see everything that I have shared up until now and all these points that I have covered have simply been a journey. But really the office - standing in the full authority and designation of apostle - is your end goal. That is where you are aiming towards. That is the end goal. Perhaps you think that when you get there you stop and you have arrived. I have news for you though. Once you finally reach the stage of standing in office, you have only just begun, because now comes the part where you can practically apply everything that Lord has been taking you through all those years."

"You see, it takes more than the appointment of man to set you in office. It takes the appointment of the Holy Spirit and being released by a prophet or an apostle of God who is already in office.

Until you can recall a specific time and date where the Lord set you into office and appointed you to the throne, as it were, then you are not functioning in office and cannot wear the title of that office. You have not yet arrived and still have a path of training and preparation to walk."

The Word/Phrase:
Apostolic Preparation

CONTEXT USED IN:

Before someone who is called to the apostolic ministry will qualify to be placed fully in the office of apostle, the Holy Spirit will take them through a phase of preparation to make them ready for the mandate he desires to give them. This is a difficult and changing time for the ‘apostle in learning’. This phase can last anywhere from 14 to 30 years. When we see someone going through this kind of change in their lives we say that “They are in Apostolic Preparation.”

EXCERPT:

BOOK:

CHAPTER:
Apostolic Preparation

AUTHOR:
Les D. Crause

ApostolicAppt 12:10 - "The apostolic preparation needs to be strenuous because God is raising up the apostle to be the leader in the Body of Christ. The Apostolic Office is the highest leadership office, and the apostle needs to coordinate all other ministries together. In order to do this the apostle has to go through a training mechanism that enables him or her to function and to understand and interact with and coordinate all of the fivefold ministries."

The Word/Phrase:
Apostolic Training

CONTEXT USED IN:

Once the apostle in learning has gone through preparation the Lord will then begin taking him through his paces and begin refining him for the mandate he has been called to accomplish. This is an intensive time of about 3 years. Once someone called to the apostolic ministry passes through these 3 years, they rise up fully into apostolic office. When we identify someone facing this stage of their learning we say,
“The Lord has called you to apostolic training”

or
“You are ready for apostolic training”

or
“You are already in apostolic training”

The Moses Mandate

CHAPTER:
Climbing the Mountain

AUTHOR:
Colette Toach

MosesMandate 4:11 - "There needs to come a time of separation from the world where the Lord can draw you to Himself for a time of intimate training, change and teaching, and the face-to-face relationship. You cannot move fully into the Apostolic Office until you have had this time of separation. Because until you are able to hear the voice of the Lord for yourself, you cannot move into all that He has for you. If you, standing as an apostle and a leader in the Body of Christ, are not able to hear the Lord's Word clearly and precisely and know exactly which step to take next, you are not going to make it as a leader. Because at the first sign of opposition, and at the first sign of deception, you are going to fall."

The Word/Phrase:
Apostolic Types

CONTEXT USED IN:

Each apostle will have a certain emphasis and direction. Some will feel a burden for the church within the system, others will feel a burden for those without it. When identifying the emphasis and mandate of an apostle, we can easily see what apostolic type they are in training for. We will often say to an apostle who is prophetic and functioning out of the realms of the system,
“You are Davidic in nature”
Or to someone with more of a pastoral and teaching emphasis, within the system,
“Your function is a Mosaic one”
You will often hear us say,
“You are called as a Davidic Apostle, Mosaic Apostle, Joshua apostle or Solomon apostle”
depending on the mandate and burden of the apostle in training.

"{ Full Picture in Old and New }

And so if we are going to have an understanding concerning the function and the ministry of the apostle, it is necessary that we go back and start in the Old Testament.

Now the Old Testament, according to Paul, was written as an example or an illustration, as a model for us in the New Testament. In other words the Old Testament had types and shadows, pictures or symbols that give us an indication of what is clearly taught in the New Testament. And so very often to have a clear understanding of principles in the Word, we need to put the Old and New Testaments together, and we need to look at the type and the shadow in the Old and then see how that type or shadow was fulfilled in the New. As we put the two together we get a full picture of what God is trying to teach us in His Word concerning that subject.

The Apostolic Ministry and the Apostolic Office fall into this category. In order to understand them clearly we need to start with types and shadows in the Old Testament and then add to it the teaching that we have in the New Testament. As we put them together the picture starts to become clear. Take out the Old Testament and you have a puzzle with some key pictures missing. You would be amazed what a difference one piece of a puzzle can make."

You say, "What do you mean by the apostolic types?"

They are different types of apostles.

"You say, 'But I thought an apostle was an apostle, was an apostle.' "

No, an apostle is not. He is one of several kinds of apostle. You put two apostles together and they may not look the same. They will have many similarities, but there are distinctions and there are different categories or kinds of apostle in the Scriptures. That is what I am going to try and show you here, beginning in the Old Covenant.

Apostolic Types

Les D. Crause

ApostolicTypes 3:1-6
"{ The Moses Category }

Let's begin with Moses. The Moses apostle has these functions and responsibilities.

Firstly, he directs ministry largely at the status quo church.

You say, "Status quo church? Which chapter and verse did you get that from?"

Les chapter three verse two! It is a term that I made up and which other people also use, and you know what it means. The status quo is what everybody does. It is the 'in thing'. It is the fashion of this world. The status quo church is the church that is following the patterns of this world, that have become absorbed and controlled by the world, by the status quo and doing what everybody else does. The church is behaving just like the world.

The church has become an organization no different to any worldly organization. The church has become a business, no different to any other business out there. It is has become a club, just like any other social club out there. The church has become absorbed into the World System, and the Moses apostle is called primarily to address that aspect of the church, to deal with it and to break the church free. Why? Because Moses was called to deliver them out of Egypt. They cried to be delivered out of Egypt, until they had to leave behind all the good things. The Moses apostle has a big job on his hands, and we are going to be dealing with a whole series just on how he has to go about it."

ApostolicTypes 3:22-24
"What comes next? It is naturally the David type of apostle. What did David do?

David directs his ministry largely to those who have already left the System or the status quo church. They have become fed up with it. They have had enough and said, "We're out of here." Or, they received the left boot of fellowship. They have been kicked out. Most of them have the title 'prophet'.

They claim that they want nothing to do with the System, but usually the truth is the System wants nothing to do with them. Nevertheless they have left. They are a bunch of dropouts. Nobody wants them. They are considered losers. They live in the Cave of Adullam, and that is where David will gather them together and he will bring them outside of the System. He will minister to them and build them up and bring them to the same kind of thing. He will build them up, show them a pattern and indicate to them what God has for them."

ApostolicTypes 3:53-54
"The Joshua apostle takes over where Moses left off and completes the work. It was not Moses who led the Israelites into the Land of Canaan and gave them the land, but it was Joshua.

The Joshua apostle displaces the System. Joshua went into the land and drove the enemy off in order that the Promised Land could be inhabited and taken over by the people. The Joshua apostle hands over the church to a new generation. Not one of those that left Egypt made it into the Canaan Land except Joshua and Caleb. Joshua handed over the Promised Land to a young and new generation. The church of tomorrow will be led by a new generation and the old will die out and will fade away."

Dealing with Saul

CONTEXT USED IN:

In this lecture “Saul” is used as a type and shadow of the status quo system. In other words: the worlds system within the church. When the Lord deals with the ‘Saul in you’ He is exposing all the sinful and incorrect templates related to the system. So you would hear us say,
“The Saul in you needs to be dealt with”
or
“The Lord is dealing with the Saul in you”
Further you might see us say,

“Saul is still alive in you.”

The Word/Phrase:
Fatherhood

CONTEXT USED IN:

When a person who is called of the Lord is raised, instructed and received impartation from an apostle, that person would be considered their ‘apostolic father’/ Fatherhood is an apostolic function. It is not a mentorship relationship, which is temporary, but a father and son relationship which is progressive. When we can see a person displaying the characteristics of the person who trained them we would say that
“They have been fathered by that person”
or
“We can see that you are under the fatherhood of that apostle”

EXCERPT:

BOOK:
The Apostolic Office

CHAPTER:
Apostolic Fatherhood

AUTHOR:
Les D. Crause

ApostolicOffice 5:5-7
Firstly, the mentorship relationship is temporary and it ends. When it comes to an end you will never return to that mentor again. Very often the mentor has to kick the disciple out, because they don't want to leave. A lot of the time God has to bring a sword between them, or God has to actually physically remove the mentor and take him away so that the disciple can break free and rise up and move into their own realm of ministry.

The father is your father for life. My child can run away from home and come out from under my authority and go anywhere in the world, but my genes are still in him. What I reproduced in him will always be there, because it has been imparted to him physically. Now if we are looking from a spiritual sense, we are looking at a kind of an impartation that takes place from father to spiritual son that is deeper than impartation of knowledge and impartation of anointing. It is deeper than that. That is why you can have numerous mentors, but only one father.

Now how does spiritual fatherhood take place? It takes place through impartation, through conception and through birth. As I meditated on this to try and get it clear in my mind, the Lord told me to compare and have a look at natural childbirth to see how it takes place.

“The Lord is calling you to minister within the status quo church”

AUTHOR:
Les D. Crause

SevenSteps 4:19-21
"I began to see that there was a system set up in the world that was not designed to help, but to destroy. And the ones that I went to that were supposed to be there to help me, were now trying to destroy my family. They were being used by Satan to destroy. And now, as I went to what appeared to be the church system of the day to see whether the church would help, I found the church to be no different to the world. They had the same attitude. They had the same lack of love and care for those who were in need.

{ Discontentment }

That was among some of the first tastes that I had of how the church has come to be controlled by the world. And over time in the experiences that I have had in ministry, in the church, in serving the Lord and in the world, I have come to see that the Body of Christ has developed to a situation where the church very often does not look any different to the world. Sometimes it looks exactly the same. The world has crept into the church, and the church has become molded after the pattern of the world."
