ProphPreparation 4:52-58
"{ The Necessity for Leg-Breaking
}
53 Jesus did not take that long to die. He hung on the
cross and He said, "Father, into your hands I commit My spirit." And the
Scripture says that He yielded up His spirit and He died. The thieves who
were crucified on the cross with Him, did not do that. They struggled and
they battled, and because the sun was going down and they did not want to
leave the bodies on the cross on the Sabbath, the Scripture says that the
guards came to break their legs.
54 Why did they break their legs? I always used to
wonder. That was really mean of them. I mean, as if they guys have not
suffered enough, now they still want to come and smash their legs? It was so
they could not push up on the cross and keep breathing, because as soon as
their legs were broken they would just have to hang there and suffocate to
death and they would die.
55 { Learning to Die Like Jesus }
56 Jesus was different though. When they came to Him
they saw that He was already dead, so they did not have to break His legs.
They just put a spear in His side to make sure that He was already dead. So
when God begins to move on you and bring to death in you all of these things
of the flesh that stand in the way of you being used as a prophet, you have
a choice. You can struggle, you can fight, you can kick. You can push up
against it and moan and groan and bewail your situation. Or you can say,
"Hold it! I think I'm being crucified here. I think the reason for this is
so I can die."
57 It is quite simple really. You just do like Jesus
and you say, "Okay, Father, I get it. Lord, you're trying to bring me to the
end. I die now. I let it go. I give it to you. I hand it over to you and
commend my spirit into your hands and I let go." And you can die in minutes.
It is so easy.
58 You say, "Well, it's easy for you to talk, you
haven't been there."
